1. My non-grocery shopping experiment went well... until Friday when I remembered I was supposed to take dinner in to a family from church. I figured it wasn't fair to them that I was on a grocery store strike and that the kind and right thing to do would be to spare them from a "creative" meal... so I caved and partook of Walmart... but it was a good experience and I'll definitely do it again soon!
2. One of my New Year's resolutions is to eat more chocolate... so far, so good!
3. Speaking of New Year's resolutions... I took a picture every single day in 2009! If we're being honest I'm totally surprised that I finished it. I usually go gung ho on a project and then about 3/4 of the way through I get busy and things start to fizzle out. But I stayed focused and took 365 pictures documenting the little details in our life... It's my favorite project to date. My picture a day blog is a little bit behind.. and my actual album is way behind... but I have 365 pictures documenting our 2009. I loved it so much that I'm doing it again for 2010. Hooooray!
4. We got Beatles Rock Band for Christmas. I {heart} the Beatles. And its way better than regular rock band where I only know two songs. With the Beatles I can play and sing all the live long day. Life is good.
5. I have a new assignment at Church... I'm now working as the 2nd counselor in Relief Society... I had this assignment years ago when we first moved to Louisiana and really liked it so I was excited with the opportunity and have been super excited... now as I get more in to it I'm feeling insecure and doubting my abilities.
6. On the way home from a leadership training meeting on Saturday I ran out of gas. With the new Relief Society president in my car. It was horribly embarrassing. I was in my husbands car and he said there was gas in it.. and it didn't ding when it was low... and next thing I know we're stuck on the side of the freeway with no gas. I wanted to die. I couldn't get hold of my husband who was at work and so she called her husband. So kind man that he is came with a gas can and filled up my car.
But then it gets worse. Of course it does. It's me we're talking about. I guess when the car died (of no gas) I didn't turn it off and the battery ran dead. So then her super nice husband went to find jumper cables at a gas station... all the while I'm silently cursing my husband for being at work and not answering his phone and not having a car full of gas. Her husband came and jumped the car and two hours later we were on our way. Ugh. I'd put it in my top three most embarrassing experiences. Right after falling down the steps at the Marriott Center in front of 20,000 people.
7. I just this very minute learned that American Idol is on tonight!! Hooooooooray!!
8. We got some money for Christmas so we're using it on a mini-teeny-tiny family getaway. Can't even wait. We need some good family fun around these parts! I don't want to jinx it so I'll tell you about it when we get back.
9. I didn't EVER think I'd be at this point.... but I'm seriously loving my mac. I got it for my birthday last May. I tried to use it. But I just didn't like it... and the only reason I got it is because I needed a new computer and my husband the mac lover that he is insisted we go all mac in our family. I'm a creature of habit... I know my PC... its what I've used for years and years.... but once I started finding out all the cool stuff you could do with a mac I sloooooooowly started using it... and then I made my Christmas slide show and that I was that... I loooooooove all the cool little features! There are some things I miss about a PC... but the fact that I can sync my mac and my iPhone and have everything constantly updated is sweet heaven!
10. And finally... we took little buddy for a big boy haircut this week... such a sad little boy... he's had his hair cut a couple of times... not sure why this time was so traumatic... but he cried through the whole thing. Cute little thing.
