Tis true. I love love love the Olympics... it becomes a small obsession every two years... and before I was the owner of a fine DVR I had been known to stay up until the wee hours of the morning (who am I kidding? I stay up too late all the time anyway!) watching volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, etc.
But now thanks to modern miracles such as the DVR my I can go to bed at a decent hour (not that I do) and know that I don't have to miss a minute of my beloved Olympics.
I'm sad I missed the opening ceremonies last night but hopefully I'll be able to find them online somewhere.
My favorite things about the Olympics:
The athletes stories... I love the personal bio's that they do... of heroism and odd over-coming its taken them to get to where they are.
The Morgan Freeman commercials this year. Makes me cry every single time.
The Olympic theme song... always brings a lump to my throat. I have to blink my eyes really fast so they don't leak.
The immense pride I feel to be an American.
And as my good friend Morgan says "We don't always agree but for a few shining weeks we set it all aside. We come together to stand and cheer and celebrate as one. We forget all the things that make us different and remember all the things that make us the same."
It's a good moment in time for mankind.
